India, 7 Nights

For those short on time, or for those who want to see the highlights of Northern India before heading south, then this is the ideal journey. It can be easily combined with any of our other India journeys.

Day 1 - London/Delhi
Depart London Heathrow for your flight to Delhi.

Day 2 - Delhi
Landing in the morning, transfer to the Taj Mahal hotel. Explore Old Delhi, including the Red Fort, Rajghat and bazaars and later the leafy avenues of New Delhi. Here, admire the tower of Qutab Minar, the Tomb of Humayun, Rajpath, the imposing India Gate, Parliament House and the President's residence.

Day 3 - Delhi/Agra
This morning depart by road to Agra (200 kms/4 hours). Check in to the Oberoi Amarvilas, where you will stay for two nights.
 
Day 4 - Agra
Your day begins with a half-day visit to the Taj Mahal - Shah Jahan's mausoleum for his beloved wife, Mumtaz. Later you will visit Agra's vast Red Fort.

Day 5 - Agra/Jaipur
Drive to Jaipur (250 kms/5 hours) via Fatehpur Sikri, built by Akbar the Great, as his capital and abandoned after only 14 years. Continue on to the pink city of Jaipur and on arrival check in at the Rambagh Palace.

Day 6 - Jaipur/Samode/Jaipur
Today you will travel to Samode Palace (1 hour). Enjoy lunch at Samode and marvel at its exquisite craftsmanship.

Day 7 - Jaipur
A full day's sightseeing including the spectacular 16th century fortified palace at Amber. Visit the City Palace, the impressive Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) and the surreal-looking Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory.

Day 8 - Jaipur/Delhi
This morning fly to Delhi to connect with your departure flight back to London landing later the same day. Alternatively, why not fly on to Udaipur for a few days, or perhaps go in search of tiger?

Pricing
At A&K all of our journeys are individually tailored to suit your needs and timescale. However, as a guide, a 7 day journey in India will cost from £1,825 per person based on two adults sharing with flights from the UK and subject to availability.


Udaipur Extension (2nts)
Fly from Jaipur to the exquisite city of Udaipur, whose location on the shores of Lake Pichola makes it one of the country's most romantic places.  Stay at the Lake Palace Hotel, Udaivilas or Devi Garh and explore Udaipur's City Palace and Sahelion-ki-Bari Gardens.

Ranthambore Extension (2nts)
Travel to Ranthambore by train from Agra and stay at the Oberoi Vanyavila's, Aman-i-Khas or Sher Bagh for a two night stay. Enjoy game drives searching for tiger before continuing on to Jaipur to complete Rajasthan's Golden Triangle.
