THE HOTEL
This family-owned, 52-room hotel has been beautifully maintained and updated by the Pizzinini family who have owned the hotel for three generations. Originally a Vidum, or parish priest house, Rosa Alpina's first stone was laid in 1850. Today it more than lives up to its billing as a 5 Star, upscale hotel, effortlessly blending the modern with the rustic -from elegant furnishing to exposed beams and chunky wooden mantelpieces.
All of the 51 rooms and suites have been individually designed in a unique and authentic Alpine style, enhanced with well chosen local antiques and fine materials. Especially ideal for families, the hotel has a select number of suites and rooms that may become connecting rooms, if requested.
The Rosa Alpina is also a hotel for all seasons. For winter sports enthusiasts, the Alta Badia region is unmatched, and part of the largest connected ski area in the world - with 78 miles of ski slopes and direct ski connections to more than 1,000 nearby slopes. Meanwhile, the Dolomites are extraordinary in the summertime, when colourful flowers blanket the mountains and encourage myriad activity - from hiking and mountain biking, climbing, fossil hunting to cultural excursions and golf.
Meat or cheese fondue followed by one of the finest chocolate was a really indulgent way to enjoy our dinner in the mountains.
The rooms are a mixture of antique and natural materials. Upgrade to the Chalet Loft Suites, their authentic local style combines with modern touches featuring flat-screen televisions a fireplace with a relaxing sitting area and natural wooden floors. Supremely relaxing beds with luxurious touches such as goose down duvets provide ultimate comfort, while indulgent marble bathrooms with hammam showers and bathtub complement this very special hotel experience.
Coastal areas and the islands are great year round, although July and August can be very hot. The arts and opera seasons are generally at their peak outside these months. August is very much a shut down month as Italians take their annual break.
