For the worst of reasons, Hiroshima needs no introduction. Each year millions of visitors are drawn to the city where so many people were wiped out in one instant of apocalyptic destruction. An unusual tourist attraction, the sober monuments of Hiroshima can induce an unexpected sense of listlessness and enervation in many visitors. Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park was built at "Ground Zero", the point at which the bomb exploded, and the A-Bomb Dome (the former Industrial promotion hall) stands as a haunting reminder of the destructive forces that were unleashed on the city.
