Why we like it

  • Aman Resorts’ first city property is as luxuriously decadent as its other properties
  • The hotel’s elevated position provides a peaceful respite in one of the world’s most modern and energetic cities
  • A twilight swim in the black basalt-lined infinity pool is a must for incredible views of the city
  • Interiors have a Zen-like quality influenced by the traditional elements of Japanese culture
  • The Otemachi district surrounding the hotel is fast becoming one of the city’s most popular dining destinations

A&K Top Tip

It’s not for everyone, but the resort’s signature sake is blended by one of Japan’s most revered breweries, Masumi Sake, and no visit is complete without a taster. Remember not to drink until everyone has a glass and raises it in a collective ‘kampai!’ (cheers!).

Guest Testimonial

While planning our trip to Japan I dealt with two Vickys (Smith and Hamlin). They were both delightful - being articulate, helpful and most efficient. Their knowledge about Japan was very much appreciated. The few changes we requested to the first suggested itinerary were carried out quickly and to our complete satisfaction. You have two highly talented ladies who obviously love their job and are a great credit to A&K. We

High above the bright lights and hectic streets of Japan’s vibrant Tokyo, Aman Tokyo – the first city property from the luxury resort company Aman – is a tranquil urban escape occupying the top six floors of the 40-storey Otemachi Tower. As views go, these are pretty spectacular. Rising high above the frenzied metropolis you’ll find a Zen-like tranquillity that’s a welcome contrast to the bustling energy down at street level. Interiors are created from a combination of classic Japanese materials such as camphor wood, washi paper and stone in order to reflect traditional homes. All 84 rooms and suites are exquisitely outfitted, many with a large furo, a deep soaking tub intrinsic to the Japanese ritual of bathing. Each suites has a unique layout and modern technology and luxury fabrics ensures your stay is as connected and comfortable as possible. Each of the rooms has incredible city views, including the Imperial Palace Gardens and the Tokyo Skytree. Larger suites offer dining areas and full-equipped pantries, offering apartment-style living in the heart of Tokyo.

Otemachi, the district surrounding the hotel, is an up and coming area that’s famous for gastronomy. Aman Tokyo’s restaurant is no exception: restaurant by aman offers a menu comprised of almost no Japanese cuisine, a surprising quirk considering the location. Then there’s the added bonus of a table with a view – the restaurant overlooks the Imperial Palace Gardens and on a good day, Mount Fuji can be seen in the distance. The hotel also affords a host of luxurious facilities to further enhance your experience, such as a wine cellar, cigar lounge and a large Aman spa that covers two floors and houses eight treatment rooms. The yoga and pilates studio is ideal for increasing that Zen-like tranquillity further, and the fitness centre includes changing rooms that feature traditional Japanese hot baths.
