Kenya, 7 Nights
Day 1 - London/Nairobi/Lewa
Fly from London-Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic to Nairobi. On arrival transfer to Wilson domestic airport for your scheduled departure to Lewa Downs, located to the north of Nairobi in the shadows of Africa's second highest peak, Mount Kenya, Lewa is an exceptional area of natural beauty and outstanding game. Representatives from Sirikoi Lodge will be at the airstrip to meet you and transfer you on game drive to the lodge for a two night stay.
Days 2 and 3 - Lewa Downs
Enjoy your first full day on safari with a morning and evening game drive. Activities are plentiful at Sirikoi with game walks, drives, helicopter trips and camel treks all available. Alternatively simply relax and soak up Sirikoi's stunning setting. The green lawns provide a safe haven for numerous species of antelope, warthog and often numous blue crested cranes.
Days 4 - Lewa Downs/Masai Mara
After breakfast transfer to the airstrip for your flight to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Set on the banks of the Mara River, Olonana is in the heart of Kenya's big game country, and you should encounter plenty of game on the journey from the airstrip to camp. Olonana will be your home for the following three nights. Upon arrival and orientation, there will be plenty of time for an afternoon game drive. Olonana is a stunning property with 14 bush pavilions built on platforms with private viewing decks overlooking the river. Luxuriously appointed, pavilions feature two queen sized beds, en suite facilities and locally made furniture.
Days 5 and 6 - Masai Mara
Your personal steward will start your day early but gently, with a cup of tea or coffee. Each day's schedule is up to you: drive into the game reserve with a picnic lunch, or make the most of Olonana's position in a Conservation Area by setting out on foot, accompanied by a skilled ranger and an armed guide. The area's Maasai are partners in Olonana so you are sure of a welcome if you choose to visit the local manyatta to learn more about their pastoral way of life. Every night has a dinner party atmosphere where drinks are served on the long sundeck overlooking the hippo-filled river followed by guests and guides dining together in a warm and convivial atmosphere.
Day 7 - Masai Mara/Nairobi
A final early start allows time for one last morning game drive before transfering back to the airstrip for the scheduled flight to Nairobi. If an early morning game drive is too strenuous, then perhaps spare some time with one of the camp's guides to learn more about some of the many fabulous conservation projects in operation at Olonana.
Upon arrival in Nairobi there will be time for dinner at any of Nairobi's top restaurants before the late-night British Airways flight to London.
Day 8 - London
Arrive back into London-Heathrow early morning.
Kenya Coast Extension
An extension to the coast is the perfect addition to any Kenya safari. Fly directly from the Masai Mara to Mombasa before taking your light aircraft transfer to Funzi Keys. Three nights or more may be spent relaxing on the beach or beside the pool.
Alternatively Lamu on the north Kenya coastline is a direct flight from Nairobi. Steeped in culture, Lamu (a Unesco world heritage site) is a wonderful place to wash away the dust of any safari. Stay at either The Majlis or Manda Bay for a truly relaxing experience.
The Majlis, a new property is only a 5 minute boat ride from the beautiful little town of Shela. Take time to explore the labyrinth of narrow streets, the boutique art and craft shops before lunching at Peponi Hotel overlooking the water.
Manda Bay some 20 minutes by boat from Lamu Town - another must-see, is a stunning robinson crusoe bear foot luxury experience. Exceptional marine life provides outstanding snorkelling or diving best enjoyed between November and May. Cuisine is also taken seriously with tantalising seafood platters washed down with crisp glass of Sauvignon blanc.
