  • Enjoy breakfast alongside the long-necked residents at Giraffe Manor
  • Meet orphaned elephants and chimpanzees preparing for a life of freedom at dedicated sanctuaries

Day 1 UK / Nairobi
Fly from London Heathrow to Nairobi, where you'll be met and transferred by private car to the leafy suburb of Langata and Giraffe Manor, your home for the next two nights.
Giraffe Manor

Day 2 Nairobi
There are few places in the world where you can be greeted at breakfast by a giraffe poking its head through the window –but at Giraffe Manor, you can expect regular encounters with the long-necked residents of the adjacent sanctuary. It's also ideally placed for exploring the attractions in the southwest of Nairobi, including the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage, which you'll visit today to watch the baby elephants being hand fed by their keepers –and perhaps indulging in a football kickabout.
Giraffe Manor | Meals: Breakfast

Day 3 Nairobi / Laikipia
Fly northwest to the foothills of Mount Kenya and Ol Pejeta Conserv-ancy, a groundbreaking reserve dedicated to wildlife conservation and community development. Famed as a sanctuary for rhino –Ol Pejeta is home to three of only five northern white rhino surviving today, plus more than 100 black rhino –the reserve hosts the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo) as well as rare species such as Grevy's zebra and Jackson hartebeest.
Kicheche Laikipia Camp | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Days 4 - 5 Laikipia
With two days to explore the expanses of the conservancy on expert-guided game drives in open safari vehicles, chances are you'll spot some of the six resident lion prides –several of the big cats are radio-collared to help tracking –and, if you're really lucky, leopard or even African wild dog. You can also meet some of our closest relatives at Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya to see chimps. Take an evening game drive to experience the thrill of spot-ting nocturnal animals such as aardvark and bat-eared fox.
Kicheche Laikipia Camp | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 6 - Laikipia / Masai Mara
If you've watched Big Cat Diary, you have an inkling of what to expect from the Masai Mara, which you'll reach on a short flight from Old Pejeta this morning. A diverse and captivating cast of game stalks, rumbles and streams across its vast savannah, much of it easy to find –perfect for a first-time family safari, with a good chance of picking up many classic African species that you might not have seen so far. The tented riverside pavilions of the Sanctuary Olonana sit in a pri-vate conservancy alongside the Masai Mara National Reserve, where numbers are limited and wildlife encounters quieter and more intimate.
Sanctuary Olonana | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Days 7 - 8 Masai Mara
Game drives to spot the Mara's profuse wildlife –including the Big Five –are just part of the package here. Your children will hone bush skills, learn to identify animal tracks and absorb the lore of the land, as well as meeting Maasai families and discovering traditional life-styles in the nearby village. And the visions of Africa's animal actors come thick and fast, from classic views of cheetahs peering atop ter-mite mounds to endless herds of wildebeest snaking across the plains.
Sanctuary Olonana | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 9 Masai Mara / Nairobi / UK
Tear yourself away from the sights, scents and sounds of the African bush for your flight to Nairobi, connecting with your overnight jour-ney back to London Heathrow.

At A&K all of our journeys are individually tailored to suit your needs and timescale. However, as a guide, this 14 day Kenya Family Safari itinerary will cost from £5,865 per adult and £1,919 per child based on two adults and two children per family with international flights from the UK and all game drives.
