HIGHLIGHTS

  • Join the Lion Tracking Programme at Ol Pejeta, a valuable conservation project
  • Observe chimpanzees in their sanctuary at Laikipia to appreciate the conservation challenges they face
  • Game drives in the wildlife rich Masai Mara, famous for its big cats

Join a game drive with a difference, monitoring the welfare of lions in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. The aim of the Conservancy is to provide a sanctuary for wildlife and to conserve them for future generations. Some lions have been collared and you can join the researchers tracking these big cats. This vital data can then be transmitted to the study centre which is invaluable to monitor the movement and condition of the lions.

Days 1 - 2 UK / Nairobi / Lewa
Fly from the UK to Nairobi on an overnight flight before travelling to Laikipia where you will stay at Kicheche Laikipia for 3 nights.
Kicheche Lakipia Camp | Meals: Day 1 Lunch, Dinner, Day 2 Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Days 3 - 4 Laikipia
Two full days to explore Laikipia and the conservation projects at Ol Pejeta. Activities available include game drives in both the day and night as well as walking. Time can be spent with the Lion Tracking Programme which monitors lions in the area, some of which have been collared to allow guests to track the lions with a portable satellite dish and send the data back to the study centre on the Conservancy. The Conservancy is also home to a Chimpanzee Sanctuary, here children and adults alike can observe and learn about chimpanzees and the struggles they face in the wild.
Kicheche Lakipia Camp | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 Laikipia / Masai Mara
After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your flight to the Masai Mara National Park. On arrival, you will be transferred to Kicheche Mara where you will stay for three nights.
Kicheche Mara Camp | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Days 6 - 7 Masai Mara
The camp is located in a prime game viewing area and game viewing starts directly from the camp. The Masai Mara hosts one of earth’s greatest shows with the annual wildebeest migration passing through the park annually. Early morning and late afternoon game drives are taken in open sided vehicles, which offer you the perfect platform to watch and photograph the wildlife without encroaching on their space. You can also experience the Mara on foot by doing a walking safari exploring the little things missed on a vehicle. Your stay would not be complete without a visit to a local village and school.
Kicheche Mara Camp | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9 UK
Arrive back in the early morning.
