Depart London on Heathrow on British Airways arriving into Nairobi in the evening.

Day 2 Lewa Downs
It's only a 50-minute fight, passing magnificent Mount Kenya, to reach Lewa Downs, a magnificent, conservation-focused conservancy where big game thrives. The trip from the airstrip to intimate Lewa Safari Camp doubles as transfer and game drive - keep your eyes peeled.

Day 3 to 4 Lewa Downs
Melt into the majesty of Lewa. Take morning and evening game drives, looking for elephant, lion, giraffe and black and white rhino. Head off on spine-tingling game walks, fly over the bush in a helicopter or trek across the wilds on camelback.

Day 5 Lewa Downs / Masai Mara
Next stop: the iconic Masai Mara, one of the finest reserves in the whole of Africa. Fly in and head for Sanctuary Olonana - set on the banks of the Mara River, this lodge is right in the heart of big game country;you should spot plenty of animals just on the journey to camp from the airstrip. An afternoon game drive will offer more encounters, and the chance to sip a sundowner as the plains flush dusky pink.

Days 6 to 7 Masai Mara
You decide how to spend your days here. You can take game drives into the national park itself. Or you can make the most of Sanctuary Olonana's location in a Conservation Area by setting out on foot with an expert ranger for more visceral bush encounters. The local Maasai are partners in Sanctuary Olonana, and you can visit the local manyatta to learn more about their way of life. Each night, before dinner, retire to the sundeck for a drink, watching the hippos in the river below.

Day 8 Masai Mara / Nairobi
There's time for one last early morning game drive before you head to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi. Toast a terrific trip with dinner at one of Nairobi's top restaurants before boarding an overnight flight back to the UK.

Arrive in the UK early morning.

Kenya's equatorial location ensures warm weather year round, though it can be cool at night and first thing in the morning. There are two rain seasons, the long rains occur from late March to early June and short rains from October to December. The rainfall is sometimes heavy and when it does come it often falls in the afternoons and evenings. The hottest period is from February to March and coldest in July to August.
