Weather

Kenya's equatorial location ensures warm weather year round, though it can be cool at night and first thing in the morning. There are two rain seasons, the long rains occur from April to June and short rains from October to December. The rainfall is sometimes heavy and when it does come it often falls in the afternoons and evenings. The hottest period is from February to March and coldest in July to August.

On the western border of the Masai Mara at the base of the Oloololo escarpment is Kichwa Tembo Camp.  The camp is built in and amongst a riverine forest which looks directly over the vast plains of the Masai Mara and is the direct path of the annual wildebeest and zebra migration. The camp is made up of 40 spacious Hemingway-style safari tents with en-suite bathrooms. The main guest areas include indoor  and outdoor dining areas which overlook the game-filled plains.

Enjoy morning and afternoon safaris in open 4x4 vehicles, bird watching and daily lectures by a Maasai naturalist. As an optional extra you can also enjoy night drives, walking trails along the Oloololo escarpment and a visit to a local Maasai village. Afternoons can be spent relaxing by the swimming pool surrounded by lawns and an everchanging view beyond.

Guest Testimonial

We appreciated knowing the travel specialist (Katie Sims) from the previous A&K holiday. The hotels in Grenada and Cordoba were excellent.
The Renfe trains from Grenada to Malaga were very impressive. On time, comfortable and fast.
