Day 1 Nairobi / Namunyak
Fly to Namunyak in the Mathews Mountain Range. Sarara Camp will be your home for the next three nights, a unique camp due to its remote location. Accommodation at Sarara is made up of six tents with open air showers and a beautiful family cottage with two bedrooms. The main lounge and dining area overlooks the dramatic Mathews Mountains and the natural rock swimming pool overlooks a frequently visited waterhole.
Days 2 - 3 Namunyak
In the morning wake up to fresh tea or coffee brought to your tent at a time to suit you. You will have two full days to explore this stunning area of Kenya. Rising up out of the desert the dramatic Mathews Mountain Range in Kenyan's Northern Frontier region stretches for 150km. It is a wild area of forest and mountain peaks where gazelle, oryx, ostrich and Grevy's zebra are seen grazing by the Ewaso Ng'iro River and seasonal streams that cut through the mountains. Herds of elephant are found in abundance along with leopard, lion, kudu, buffalo and more than 200 recorded species of bird. Cycad palms flourish in this area, some of which are found nowhere else on earth. We recommend a visit to the famous 'Sarara singing wells;' the Samburu warriors bring their cattle down to watering wells on a daily basis during the dry season. Human chains are formed down these wells, some of which are 10m deep, and while passing water up to the surface they will chant traditional Samburu songs. This unique process can last up to several hours a day. Between game drives you cool off in the infinity-edge swimming pool with the most breathtaking views, over the stark mountains. Daily afternoon tea is a scrumptious affair with an array of home baked savoury and sweet treats to satisfy all before you set off on your afternoon adventures.

December - March, July - October
Kenya's equatorial location ensures warm weather year round, though it can be cool at night and first thing in the morning. There are two rain seasons, the long rains occur from late March to early June and short rains from October to December. The rainfall is sometimes heavy and when it does come it often falls in the afternoons and evenings. The hottest period is from February to March and coldest in July to August.
