Weather

Kenya's equatorial location ensures warm weather year round, though it can be cool at night and first thing in the morning. There are two rain seasons, the long rains occur from April to June and short rains from October to December. The rainfall is sometimes heavy and when it does come it often falls in the afternoons and evenings. The hottest period is from February to March and coldest in July to August.

The Coast

The endless white sandy beaches and turquoise waters of the Kenyan coastline are the perfect finale to any East African safari and over the following pages we have selected some of our favourites.  Immerse yourself in a unique coastal culture as rich and rewarding as the local Swahili cuisine.

Mombasa is one of the oldest settlements on the East African coastline and still retains much of its character. The old town reflects the Arabic and Portuguese influences. The coastline south of Mombasa is a tropical paradise of palm fringed white sand beaches, where the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean meet beautiful coral reefs.

Lamu is the perfect place for a beach safari with a difference, a truly unique destination. The island is located off Kenya's far north coast. The attraction here is the islands fascinating history as a result of the trading routes. Step back in time by exploring the old town with its narrow streets and bustling markets.

South of Malindi, Watamu is a Marine National Park. The coral gardens are just 300 metres from the shore making it an ideal location for divers and snorkellers alike.
