The Coast , Kenya
Set in the remote Dodori National Reserve, 35 miles north of Lamu, Kiwayu is beautifully located for maximum comfort and relaxation. Here you'll discover an unspoilt stretch of wild, uninhabited coastline - ideal for watersports, snorkelling off coral reefs, deep sea and creek fishing, excursions by dhow to the island and even dolphin spotting. On land, the 18 spacious bandas (cottages) are designed to blend into the surrounding dunes, built with great imagination in the Swahili tradition with palm thatch and woven flooring. From your private veranda, soak up panoramic views over the bay. All you'll hear is the lapping of the sea, the wind in the palms and birdsong.

December - March, July - October
Kenya's equatorial location ensures warm weather year round, though it can be cool at night and first thing in the morning. There are two rain seasons, the long rains occur from April to June and short rains from October to December. The rainfall is sometimes heavy and when it does come it often falls in the afternoons and evenings. The hottest period is from February to March and coldest in July to August.
