Lose yourself on a game drive in the sprawling plains of Tsavo

There is over 22,000km2 of sprawling plains, scorched earth and scattered bush to explore in Tsavo National Park, and we’ll help you leave no stone unturned. The reserve is divided into two distinct ecosystems. In the east, you will find flat and undulating plains; in the west, there is a wooded, hilly landscape, characterised by volcanic cones and lava flows.

At a staggering nine times bigger than the Masai Mara, you’ll have no shortage of space to roam in Tsavo East. We recommend a game drive – you’ll traverse the vast wilderness without seeing a single soul for hours on end, but there will be plenty of wildlife to marvel at. Keep your eyes open for birds of prey, buffalo, gazelle, a range of weird and wonderful reptiles and more than 10,000 elephant, tinged a mysterious red by the desert dust.

In Tsavo West National Park you'll also find a wide variety of animal life, from hippo to crocodile. If you love birdlife, Tsavo is home to more than 500 species of birds - Finch Hatton’s Camp is the perfect spot for bird-watching.
