Maldives
British author James Hilton's mystical 'Shangri-La' has become synonymous with any earthly paradise. This description could not be more apt for their first resort in the Maldives, opened July 2009. On the southernmost tip of the Addu Atoll, Villingili Resort and Spa stretches across the fine white coral sands of Villingili Island. Effortless luxury, peace and privacy are assured at this exotic hidden treasure.
Exploration is the order of the day; learn about 45 different plant species as you follow one of the nature trails. Alongside the 17,000 coconut trees, you might also find the Noni plant, believed to be useful for the treatment of certain ailments. Search out a secluded cove, perfect for romantic picnics, or have lunch on the equator. If you are looking to explore further afield, take the boat shuttle to meet the locals on Gan Island or go diving among historic British royal relics. After an active day, unwind at the restaurant for an aromatic curry, plate of dim sum or mezze. Choose from one of the three distinctive Eastern-style rooms, representing the different cultures and cuisines from the Indian Ocean, South China Sea and Arabian Gulf.

November - April
The best time to travel to the Maldives is during our winter months when the humidity is lower and the temperature more comfortable. However, the monsoon season of May to September should not be discounted for travel as the resorts have fantastic offers on accommodation. The heavier showers tend to occur in the mornings or the late afternoons; a perfect time to visit the spa.
