    THE HOTEL
Nestled between sugarcane fields and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, Shanti Maurice promises an indigenous Mauritian experience that will enlighten all your senses. The resort has exotic gardens next to the pristine white sands and a world class spa with a unique combination of therapies to promote a feeling of extreme wellness. Dining experiences at the oceanfront Stars Signature Restaurant, Pebbles all day dining or the casual Fish & Rhum Shack on the beach are simple yet exquisite offering Mediterranean, international or casual BBQ's respectively, with the chefs creating imaginative choices for the most discerning of palates. Most of the fresh produce used in the restaurants is grown on the property together with fish fresh from the ocean.

The pride of the almost exclusively local staff at the resort is evident throughout the Shanti Maurice experience, manifesting itself in genuinely warm and caring service.  The hotel has a Kids Club and a specially designed Kids Activities Programme, with recreational pursuits such as non-motorised water sports, tennis, and arts & crafts including shell-painting, clay-modelling and 'treasure hunts'. The Kids club is set within its own grounds and comes complete with its own toddler's pool, games room and outside play area.  Spacious suites and villas are decorated with cool linens, calm colours and tropical woods, all with large double beds and discreet modern technologies. Junior Suites have a large balcony or terrace, sea-views and spacious bathroom with the ground floor junior suites having direct access to the beach and an outdoor shower. If you are looking for more privacy, the Luxury Villas or our favourite is the Luxury Suite Villa with Pool, facing directly onto the beach with beautiful ocean views and a 54sq metre swimming pool. The Shanti Villa comprises two bedrooms and a swimming pool with built-in Jacuzzi. All of the Villas have a private butler to look after your every need.

We recommendSpend an evening in Grandma's kitchen, where you will be welcomed into a Mauritian home to taste authentic cuisine made with fresh local ingredients creating fantastic tasting food as well as learning about their lifestyle and hearing childhood stories, a truly unique dining experience.

    Weather

Mauritius experiences a hot and humid summer from December to April and cooler, drier conditions from May to November. Under the influence of the prevailing south-easterly winds, the east coast is slightly cooler and wetter than the west. The winds can bring a welcome relief to the east coast in the hottest summer months but are more blustery here in July and August. The cyclone season lasts from December to March. Although a direct hit is rare, cyclones far out at sea can bring some days of squally rain.
