Décor is simple and elegant, featuring high ceilings and fresh white walls that contrast with local hardwood furniture, mahogany louvered doors and large windows that capture the tropical garden and sea beyond. Particularly noteworthy are the large bathrooms with their Molton Brown amentities and double rain-shower heads. A visit to Sal Y Fuego, which offers 'rustic cuisine' and home-grown ingredients in a casual, al fresco setting, is highly recommended, as indeed is the Aroma Spa. The first organic spa on the Riviera Maya, it is set in a quiet corner of the estate and offers an array of treatments for both adults and children based on indigenous fruits, plants and herbs grown in the nearby herb garden. The Lime Ritual is especially refreshing.
Best time to be there
October to April as the rainy season works its way up from the south beginning in May and running until September. Hurricanes may occur from July to October. December to February are the coolest months, when northerly winds can sometimes take inland northern Mexico temperatures down to freezing.
