Morocco

Best time to be there

Morocco is warm and sunny year round. The best time to visit is mid-February to June and September to December. Coastal Morocco is cooled by sea breezes. The peaks of the Atlas Mountains are snow-capped for most of the year.

Close to the foothills of the high Atlas Mountains, the ochre-red walled city of Marrakech offers palaces, gardens and bustling souks. Enjoy a view of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and the minaret of the Koutoubia mosque from almost any terrace in the city.

Djemaa el Fna is the largest market in Morocco and the biggest square in Africa. Explore in the evening when musicians, dancers, and storytellers fill the square. Magicians enthrall bemused audiences, tattoo artists adorn the hands of obliging travellers with henna and peddlers of traditional medicines sit patiently among the ebb and flow. One in particular man caught our attention, not so much for his ancient array of exotic remedies (including fried chameleons and hedgehog skins) but that amongst this medieval playground he pulls out his mobile phone.

Wander around the many souks adjacent to Djemaa el Fna where you can buy everything from spices to shoes and teapots. Visit the famous Menara and Majerolle gardens or perhaps enjoy a ride on a traditional horse drawn carriage.

Our wealth of accommodation offerings for our Marrakech holidays stretches from small riads in the heart of the medina like Riad Joya through city located properties great for those wanting a bit of quiet away from the hustle and bustle such as Four Seasons Marrakech. They are topped off with pure palaces such as the Royal Mansour and Amanjena. Marrakech is great for a weekend or to couple with a deeper exploration of Morocco.
