MARRAKECH SHORT BREAK
Close to the foothills of the high Atlas Mountains, the ochre-red walled city of Marrakech offers palaces, gardens and bustling souks. Djemaa el Fna is the largest market in Morocco and the biggest square in Africa. Explore the square in the evening when musicians, dancers and storytellers fill the square; magicians entertain with their antics, tattoo artists adorn the hands of obliging travellers with henna while peddlers of traditional medicines sit patiently among the ebb and flow. During the day, wander around the many souks adjacent to Djemaa el Fna where you can buy everything from spices to shoes and teapots. You can choose to stay in a riad, such as Villa Makassar, in the heart of the medina or a larger hotel such as The Four Seasons, an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the souks.
A&K EXCLUSIVE: SAHARA DESERT CAMPING
Sahara Desert Camping can be incorporated into any Morocco holiday - or can be the sole reason for your trip. Our beautiful Arab Caidal tents have been specially designed to afford every conceivable comfort while enjoying the privilege of splendid isolation in the Sahara, under a canopy of stars. Decked out with comfortable beds, crisp linen, feather pillows and colourful carpets, the tents are cosy and warm. A separate loo and bucket shower tent is located nearby, with a plentiful supply of hot water on hand. The Sahara team will attend to your every need: sundowners in the dunes while you watch the sun set, beautifully flavoured traditional Moroccan food made from fine ingredients served by candlelight in the dining tent and accompanied by fine wines - and music, dance, stories and laughter around the camp fire. We will arrange transfers to the Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara, a small town on the edge of the desert, and a film-maker's dream. From here we take you to the oasis town of Rissani, to experience the oasis agriculture and discover an old Kasbah. On leaving the oasis and its palm trees, you'll enter the desert, driving for just one hour to reach an isolated spot in the Sahara, near the dunes, where your desert camp is located.
Any of these experiences can be added to your Morocco itinerary:
