Best time to be there

Whilst year round Morocco is warm and sunny, the best time to visit is from mid February to June and from September to December. Coastal Morocco is cooled by breezes off the Mediterranean and Atlantic. The peaks of the Atlas Mountains are snow capped for most of the year.

Rabat

Sitting on the Atlantic coastal plain at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg, Morocco's capital, Rabat, is a modern city with wide boulevards, gardens and white buildings.  A far cry from the hectic warrens of the other Imperial cities of Marrakech and Fes, but no less steeped in history with its origins going back to the 7th-century. The King of Morocco has his Palace here and, being an administrative capital, parts of the city appear somewhat conservative.  However, there is some local colour to be found in the old part of the city, the Medina, and the Kasbah. Recreational opportunities abound too, with several beaches and the world famous Dar Es Salaam golf course.
