The Orient

Myanmar

Best time to be there

Myanmar has three clear seasons: from March to May are the very hot summer months, the wet and humid monsoon runs from May to October and the cold dry winter lasts from November to February. The best time of year to visit is late November early December when the rains have gone, the landscape is lush and green and the skies are crystal clear. However any time from late November to March is a good time to travel.

Myanmar holidays, Burma Holidays

A holiday in Myanmar, or Burma as it was known, overflows with old-world charm and a way of life rapidly disappearing in the world today.

Situated on the most westerly point of the South East Asian landmass, Myanmar is one of the most physically diverse and beautiful countries in the region, if not the world. From its sublime landscapes, rich history, serene peoples and deeply Buddhist culture, it is a destination like no other and a remarkable country to visit.

A Myanmar holiday with Abercrombie & Kent is the best way to get close to the cultures and people that make this country so fascinating.

The ancient capital, Yangon (Rangoon) is the gateway to any Myanmar holiday - you find cobbled streets, sleepy tree-lined avenues and crumbling, moss covered buildings which hark back to a bygone era of Kipling and crumpets. Steer your Myanmar holiday north to Inle Lake, whose shallow waters, lush green hills and cloudless skies are inhabited by the jovial and welcoming Intha people - all the perfect ingredients for an idyllic destination.

Myanmar offers a wealth of wonders that are not beset by hordes of tourists. Two of these, not to be missed, are Bagan and the Ayeyarwady River. The two thousand temples and pagodas of Bagan make it one of the largest most important religious and archaeological sites in the world, whilst a cruise along the Ayeyarwady is a traditional and fascinating way to enjoy this wonderful country.

In spite of ongoing political problems, it remains a country of great travel interest.  Every Myanmar holiday is hugely beneficial and encouraged by the ordinary Burmese citizen.
