Myanmar, 10 Nights

 Day 1 - London/Yangon
Board your overnight Thai Airways flight from Heathrow to Yangon, via Bangkok.

Day 2 - Yangon
Arrive into Yangon and transfer to The Govenor's Residence Hotel for one night.

Day 3 - Yangon/Putao
After breakfast, transfer for your flight to Putao and check-in to Malikha Lodge for four nights. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure, before dinner is served.

Day 4 - Putao
Board a scenic river gorge cruise, with a stop at the picturesque village of Manchanbaw. Venture downstream by longtail boat onto the Malikha River, through forested hills and past river beaches, where villagers may often be seen panning for gold. Enjoy a picnic lunch, before returning by vehicle to Malikha Lodge for dinner.

Day 5 - Putao
Trek a short distance into the forested hills behind the lodge, before descending into the Namlang Valley.  Enjoy a leisurely 2-hour raft journey back to the lodge, through the occasional gentle rapids of the Nam Lang River. After lunch at the lodge, trek by elephant through terraced rice fields to the village of Yegyawdi. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 6 - Putao
Enjoy a full day's hiking through the tribal villages of Lisu, Rawang and Shan. You may be invited to have a cup of tea at a local Christian church, or meet an old war veteran and admire his 1942 medals. After a picnic lunch, hike through further villages to Machanbaw, where Malikha Lodge's jeep awaits with refreshing drinks. Enjoy dinner at the lodge, accompanied by traditional Lisu dance entertainment.

Day 7 - Putao/Yangon
Visit Putao Market for a steaming bowl of Shan noodle soup, and practice your haggling skills over spectacular Rawang village headman woven hats. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Yangon and check-in to The Governor's Residence Hotel for one night. This evening, visit the Shwedagon Pagoda for an unforgettable sunset.

Day 8 - Yangon/Sittwe/Mrauk U
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Sittwe. Drive to Mrauk U and eat at a local restaurant. En route, visit the Mahamuni Pagoda - the holiest in the Rakhine State - where you can view the private museum. Check-in to the Mrauk U Princess Resort for three nights.

Day 9 - Mrauk U
This morning, visit Htutkanthein and Andaw Tehin Pagodas, Shittaung Temple and Thet village - home to the Rohinga tribe. After lunch, visit the informative Mrauk U Museum. Finish the day by climbing the Haritaung Pagoda for a breathtaking sunset view of rural Burmese life.

Day 10 - Mrauk U
Head to Mrauk U Market, before driving to Nam Kya village, where you journey by boat to the Chin Hills.  Enjoy a riverside picnic lunch before arriving at the village of Sin Ge. Here you will see the few remaining Chin ladies with tattooed faces, a dying custom in the Chin State. Take a short walk through the jungle to the villages of Kyee Chaung and Kone Chaung for some tea, before returning to Mrauk U.

Day 11 - Mrauk U/Sittwe/Yangon/London
Travel by boat along the Kaladan River to Sittwe. Have lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to the airport for your flight to Yangon. Extend your stay in Myanmar, Thailand or return to London Heathrow.
