Why we like it
- Adjacent to the harbour, InterContinental Wellington is the only five star luxury hotel in the city
- The award-winning concierge team are always on hand to provide handy insider tips to help make the most of your stay
- Enjoy local flavours at Chameleon restaurant and an extensive range of beverages at The Lobby Lounge
- Close to the city’s shopping, botanical gardens and attractions such as Te Papa and Westpac Stadium
Forget dessert! We recommend a post-dinner cocktail at The Lobby Lounge, where the professional mixologists offer their own inspired creations beyond the menu of classics.
First experience with A&K. Intended to ask various travel companies for quotes but Vicky (Hamlin) was so good with her suggestions that we did not seek alternative quotations the suggested itinerary was excellent and helped us decide on a balanced and interesting holiday.

InterContinental Wellington’s unbeatable harbour-side location is a great base to discover the city’s culture, arts, shopping and culinary scene. Utterly unique, the InterContinental is the city’s most luxurious hotel, and houses more than 200 generously proportioned rooms and suites, many with attractive views over the waterfront. The two Club InterContinental floors benefit from exclusive access to the Club lounge with complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and pre-dinner canapés, as well as private check-in and check-out.
Mouth-watering delights, such as a Truffle-crusted rack of lamb or Applewood smoked gnocchi, are delivered by the formidable team of chefs at Chameleon Restaurant, while The Lobby Lounge’s relaxed social scene is well suited to an afternoon glass of bubbly accompanied by half a dozen freshly shucked Clevedon Coast oysters. Wellington’s nightlife is among the liveliest in New Zealand, so why not get on your dancing shoes and enjoy a night on the Kiwi tiles. Then the following morning, if you’re feeling slightly worse for wear, you can rejuvenate with a massage or beauty treatment at Emerge Health Club & Spa. There is also a large indoor heated pool, sauna and gym.

Summer on the north island (December to February) is ideal for outdoor pursuits with mild temperatures and hours of sunshine. Venture to the numerous ski slopes and warm up close to a crackling fire during the winter months in June to August.
