The islands of Svalbard are the northern most points of Arctic Norway, midway between the North Pole and the mainland. Spitsbergen is the largest island and where our trips leave from. The harsh climate dominates all aspects of life. With no roads most travel is by flight or snowmobile. With slightly higher temperatures than other parts of the Arctic, Svalbard attracts huge flocks of migratory seabirds and is a home to large numbers of polar bears and reindeer. The area teems with marine wildlife. Whales, dolphins, seals and walruses are adundant. Most of the islands are protected glaciers. Svalbard is one of the world's best places to see the Northern lights consistently. The area is barren, wild and stunning.
