Why we like it

  • Arty hotel The Thief is situated in Tjuvholmen, described as the new 'energetic heart' of Oslo
  • Room keys grant exclusive complimentary access to Astrup Fearnley Contemporary Art Museum, just a short distance from the hotel Close to the quirky restaurants and bars of Aker Brygge Harbour and walkable to many of the city centre's major sights
  • Each room has a private terrace overlooking the stunning Oslofjord waterfront
  • Owned by an eccentric billionaire, you'll find works by Warhol and Gormley around the hotel

A&K Top Tip

Four legged family members are very welcome at The Thief: each pup gets a welcome pack on arrival including treats and a toy. Who better to explore the nearby parks and walks with.

Guest Testimonial

A first-class service: finding a suitable cruise to fit my parameters; managing to extend the time during which the offer would remain open so as to give me more time to discuss the trip with my travelling companion; and finally making all the train and hotel bookings to make the whole holiday as trouble free as possible. I cannot speak too highly of the way in which everything been conducted.

Each of The Thief's 118 spacious rooms is replete with luxury living touches, including rainforest showers, floor to ceiling windows and private balconies. The décor combines timeless elegance with contemporary art and design while maintaining comfort and cosiness throughout. Owned by Norwegian billionaire with a passion for art, you'll find unusual sculptures and paintings in the hotels open areas. While the hotel oozes extravagance and glamour, Tjuvholmen was formerly known as a seedy dockyard famous for its criminal dealings - tjuv means thief - but its extensive gentrification has reinvented the area as an influential centre for contemporary art and affluence. The Thief's location provides easy access to many of the district's vibrant nightlife hotspots surrounding the Aker Brygge harbour.

Once you've had your fill of sightseeing, unwind with a drink inside the hotel bar, a favourite hangout for some of Norway's elite, or take in the outstanding views from the roof terrace during the summer months. The hotel's own Restaurant Fru K has an exquisitely imagined a la carte menu which offers a modern twist on Norwegian and Scandinavian classics.
