The West including Bergen & The Fjords

Bergen is a truly spectacular region containing some of the most exquisite natural landscapes on earth. Even the most talented photographers and writers fail to adequately illustrate the scale of its beauty. The magnificent fjords that we see today were formed over several ice ages by giant glacier tongues and have been the subject of debate for hundreds of years. Whether its peace and relaxation or adventure and exploration you seek, it's all available in this unique part of the world.

The location is a true year-round display, in winter you can find solitude amongst the peace of the blue and black water which contrasts wonderfully against the blinding white blanket of snow on the mountains. After Spring, green and purple colours emerge and compliment the landscape for the rest of the year. One of the best ways to enjoy the views is on the coastal cruise which goes along The Sognefjord, one of the longest fjords in the world, you also get to experience The Jostedalsbreen, which is the largest Glacier on mainland Europe.

Bergen is Norway's second largest city and understandably the most popular, as a European Capital of Culture and World Heritage City its home of some of the country's finest nightlife. Bergen is known to be welcoming and lively with an array of bars and restaurants along the 15th century waterfront. The seven mountains that surround Bergen offer great walking, hiking and skiing opportunities just a short distance from the city centre. If you choose to visit during the summer, spend the bright long nights being entertained at the outdoor concert venue which attracts many international artists.
