Day 1 - London/Muscat
Your journey begins with your comfortable flight to Muscat, Oman situated on the easternmost tip of the Arabian Peninsula. Once the centre of the ancient frankincense trade, Oman offers a unique travel experience where modern life meets deep rooted local traditions, served up with genuine hospitality. Day 2 - Muscat
Muscat offers the visitor a unique opportunity to witness a modern commercial centre existing in harmony with its traditional culture. Muscat with its natural harbour means "Anchorage" & lies in a natural volcanic bowl. Today view the enchanting port city of Muscat and the magnificent splendour of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and the Bait Al Zubair museum, showcasing an incredible display of Omani antiques. Drive along the waterfront Corniche visiting the bustling Muttrah Souq before an afternoon at leisure.
Day 3 - Muscat/Jabal Shams Mountains
As you head into the mountain range visit Jabrin the finest of Omani castles. Enter Oman's Grand Canyon and stop at the terrace farming village of Wadi Ghul. Drive to the abandoned village of Wadi Nakher before arriving at The View your home for the night. The View is located in the heart of the Jabal Shams Mountains. This Eco Luxe accommodation is remarkable with its wonderful panoramic views.
Day 4 - Jabal Shams Mountains/Nizwa/Wahiba Sands
Through the rugged interior, drive to the historic village of Nizwa and explore the spectacular fort which boasts the largest round tower in Oman. Also see the old crafts continued in the souq workshops by men stooped over anvils, clanking away, amidst an array of other old antiques and handicrafts. A pocket of red dunes await in The Wahiba Sands, made famous by the exploits of the late Wilfred Thesiger. Travelling off-road, deep inside the sands, you reach a traditional Bedouin encampment tucked at the foot of a large sand dune, surrounded by the hardy desert acacia trees. Your home this evening will be traditional black goat-haired tents, with wooden beds and adjacent bathrooms. A night to remember with a sumptuous dinner eaten whilst seated on Bedouin carpets on the sands and under star-studded skies.
Day 5 - Wahiba Sands/Sur/Muscat
The Wahiba Sands is home to the traditional Bedouin tribe who are known for their hospitality and knowledge of the Sands. Enjoy a spot of dune driving. In stark contrast to this is Wadi Bani Khalid with its deep blue pools of water fringed by the date palms. On your way back to Muscat take a dip at Fins beach where the Arabian Gulf and Indian Ocean meet before visiting the Bimah Sinkhole. On clear sunny days while driving along the coast one might chance to see sharks in the deep blue water or fleet footed Gazelle sprint across the landscape.
Day 6 - Muscat
Day at leisure to enjoy your surroundings.
Day 7 - Muscat/London
Depart on your international flight home or extend your journey to further explore Oman.
