Days 1 to 3 - Muscat
The capital Muscat starts it all off. More than any another capital city, Muscat overflows with charm; time can be well spent here, exploring the Grand Mosque and local markets. It also has several great family resorts, large enough to provide excellent facilities, which occupy their own beaches.
Days 3 to 4 - Nizwa
The interior of Oman is a surprise. Head there via Nizwa to see a different side of Arabia; dramatic canyons and scenery, sharp winding roads and charming mountain villages. It is home to several unique places to stay, with views that will stay long in the memory.
Day 5 - Wahiba Sands
Castles and caves await the following day when you'll head on to a different landscape, the sands of Wahiba in the vast Arabian desert. You may find it hard to contain the shrieks of excitement as you hit the dunes in a 4x4 and try not to laugh at your grunting camels as you and they lollop off to find the perfect dune from which to absorb the desert sunset. The evening ends with a sumptuous meal under the stars.
Day 6 - Wahiba Sands
On the coast the following day, you'll have a fascinating evening at Ras al Jinz Scientific Centre, learning all about the turtle conservation practised here. Then it's time to see the action as you take to the beach, to watch mother turtles come to shore to nest, while new hatchlings flip out to the ocean for the very first time.
Days 7 to 9 - Muscat
Back in Muscat, take a couple of days to make the most of the amazing facilities at Shangri-La Al Waha, fitting in a sea cruise in search of dolphins before your flight home.
Day 10 - Fly home
Return flight to the UK.
9 Nights from £3,590 per adult based on two sharing and £3,370 per child based on two children per family. Prices include international flights.
