Best time to be there

Spring and autumn are the most pleasant times to visit. July and August can be very hot, especially in the sheltered bays of the
Algarve in the south, though this region is especially pleasant and mild during the winter months. Madeira and the Azores benefit from the warming influence of the Gulf Stream, so can be visited year round.

Madeira

Standing clear and proud above the Atlantic depths lies the semi-tropical island garden of Madeira, warmed by the Gulf Stream into a year-round favourite with visitors in quest of time-honoured peace and tranquillity. The southern coast, where you can discover the capital Funchal, is protected by a ridge of mountains and is the warmest and sunniest part of the island.
