Weather

The driest months in Rwanda are between July and September and from December to January. The rains tend to fall between April and May and then again from October to November. However, trekking for gorillas involves entering the rainforests so you need to be prepared to get wet and muddy most of the year.

Covering some 2,500 square kilometres, Akagera National Park does not have the prolific wildlife of some of the more famous East African parks, but it is well worth a visit not least for its stunning scenery and the fact that it does not have the crowds. The park has herds of elephant and buffalo, leopard, spotted hyena, giraffe, hippo and 11 species of antelope including the elusive sitatunga. Akagera also has over 500 different species of birds.

Guest Testimonial

We very much appreciated the champagne to celebrate A&K's anniversary.  Our guide Omar & driver Basil were both absolutely excellent throughout. Many thanks for making our trip to Jordan so enjoyable and for all the hard work that ensured our holiday ran so smoothly!
