This charming little getaway is found high in the Natal Drakensberg. The Farmhouse is directly adjacent to the Highmoor Nature Reserve, famous for its hikes, and near to Giant's Castle. It is easily combined with a visit to the Battlefields.
Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse offers six very individual bedrooms and a delightful restaurant set around a small lake. The spacious guest rooms, converted from the stables, are each differently themed. Constants are snug down duvets and pillows, fresh, crisp cotton sheets, freshly cut flowers, tea, coffee and cakes, as well as large claw foot bathtubs.
A day in the open air is ideal preparation for a truly exceptional dinner. Richard Poynton, who has worked and studied extensively throughout Europe under the continent's leading chefs, prepares five-course feasts, new each day, served in a stunningly situated dining room. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, the fantastic setting, wild décor and superb food makes this a great base to explore the Drakensberg.
October to May is the best time to visit the Cape. Game viewing is better during the drier months of April to September. The wildflower season is generally from mid August to mid September. The whale watching season runs from June to November.
