Day 1 UK / Cape Town
Maximise your time by flying overnight to Cape Town –plus, the small time difference means no jetlag.

Days 2 Cape Town
The elegant One&Only, right at the heart of Cape Town's vibrant Victoria &Alfred Waterfront, is an ideal base for exploring the Mother City. It has a relaxing infinity pool, butler service and a fun-filled KidsOnly programme, with loads of activities tailored for young explorers. However, make your first family adventure a trip to Table Mountain –hike up the iconic, flower-strewn peak or ride to the top by cable car, for the most magnificent views over the city and the sea.
One&Only Cape Town

Day 3 Cape Town
Robben Island is one of the most moving historic sites in South Africa. On this small island, a short boat ride from the city, Nelson Mandela was im-prisoned for 27 years. Walking around the cells with a former inmate is an eye-opening experi-ence. Returning to the mainland, spend a lively afternoon on the V&A Waterfront –watch the street performers, browse the food market and craft stores, or ride the Cape Wheel.
One&Only Cape Town | Meal: Breakfast

Day 4 Cape Town
Take a wonderfully wild drive down the Cape Peninsula, bound for wave-bashed Cape Agul-has, the most southerly point of Africa. Stop en route at Boulders Beach, where you can get up-close to a thousands-strong huddle of African penguins.
One&Only Cape Town | Meal: Breakfast

Day 5 Winelands
Today, hit the open road. Your first stop is the roll-ing, vine-draped Winelands region, specifically Babylonstoren. Surrounded by the mountains of the Drakenstein Valley, with acres of vineyards and orchards, this is the oldest Cape Dutch farm, founded in 1690. Adults can take a cellar tour and taste some delectable wines, while the kids can help out in the farmyard and explore the estate by bike or horse.
Babylonstoren | Meal: Breakfast

Day 6 Winelands
Settle in to life on this historic working farm. You and the family can collect eggs from the resident hens, accompany the duck herder as he walks his 250 charges, canoe across the farm dam or wander beside the stream, lined with 7,000 bush lilies.
Babylonstoren | Meal: Breakfast

Day 7 Garden Route
Continue east along the spectacular coast, follow-ing the Garden Route –one of the world's best drives. Base yourselves at Hog Hollow, overlook-ing the Matjies River Gorge;this countryside lodge nestled into bird-rich forest, has a wonder-ful pool, plentiful buckets, spades and body boards for family days at the beach, and special turn-downs for children with gingerbread men and bedtime stories.
Hog Hollow Country Lodge | Meal: Breakfast

Days 8 - 9 Garden Route
From Hog Hollow, spend the next two days explor-ing the glorious Garden Route. Hit the trails in the Tsitsikama Mountains, scour the forests for mon-keys and birds, dig your toes into the pristine sands of Plettenberg Bay and –if you're here be-tween April and September –keep an eye out for southern right whales migrating offshore.
Hog Hollow Country Lodge | Meal: Breakfast

Day 10 Eastern Cape
Drive on to the Eastern Cape, the ideal spot for a family safari as the area is malaria-free. Tuck in to afternoon tea before heading out in an open-topped vehicle to try to spot the Big Five and a wealth of other creatures.
Shamwari Riverdene Lodge | Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Days 11 - 13 Eastern Cape
At your safari lodge, pre-dawn starts are the norm. But it's well worth rising early, to get into the bush when the animals –elephants, lions, giraffes and more –are most active and the landscape is com-ing to life. Game drives will enthrall the kids;there are even special child-focused outings, where they can head out on foot with a ranger to look for everything from exciting big animals to the 'Small Five', learning to track creatures by their prints.
