Journey through the battlefields of KwaZulu Natal, with local historian Rob Caskie. Learn about the Anglo-Zulu battles of Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana, followed by Spioenkop - the site of the watershed battle of the Anglo-Boer war.

Day 1 - Johannesburg/Battlefields
Upon arrival in Johannesburg, you will be met by Rob and driven to Fugitive's Drift. Enroute Rob will give you the background to the battlefield sites that you will be visiting over the coming days. You will be staying in the Guest House at Fugitive's Drift for three nights.
Day 2-3 - Islandwana and Rorke's Drift
Over the next two days, Rob will take you on a very special journey through the battlefields. Rob is a superb storyteller and will bring the Zulu War battle sites to life as he shares his knowledge on what exactly happened during the battles. Learn how the Zulu army defeated the British Army at the Islandwana. Visit Rorke's Drift where 139 British soldiers were attacked by 4000 Zulu warriors resulting in more Victoria Crosses being awarded than in any other battle.
Day 4 - Spioenkop
Today you will travel to Spioenkop, set against the backdrop of the Drakensberg Mountains.. You will be staying at Three Tree Hill Lodge for two nights. Three Tree Hill Lodge specialises in the history of the second Anglo-Boer War with the Battle of Spioenkop being its focal point.
Day 5- Spioenkop
This area is famous for the 2nd Anglo-Boer War that took place from 1899 to 1902. Rob will explain the Battle of Spioenkop where Winston Churchill, Mohandas Gandhi and Louis Botha experienced one of the bloodiest battles.
Day 6 - Drakensberg
Today you will travel to the incredible Drakensberg Mountains that form the backbone to KwaZulu Natal. Spend the night at Cleopatra Farm House. This charming little getaway is found high in the Natal Drakensberg. The Farmhouse is directly adjacent to the Highmoor Nature Reserve, famous for its hikes, and near to Giant's Castle.
Day 7 - Durban
Drive to Durban where your tour ends. Alternatively extend your stay in the Drakensberg or explore more of South Africa.
