The accommodation was first class in all the places we stayed from the Eco Lodges at Vil Uyana and the 98 Acres Resort to the colonial ambience of Kandy House and the Galle Fort Hotel and finally the unique Paradise Road Villa. In all locations the service was superb and the food excellent.

Saman Villas has a magnificent setting high on the cliff top looking over the ocean and the pristine golden beaches. A boutique luxury villa property that offers beautiful accommodation with beautifully designed suites and deluxe suites, some complete with a private plunge pool or private garden. The bathrooms are modern and elegant with a free standing over sized bath tub, the bedrooms have been designed with a traditional Sri Lankan theme and are lovely and light and airy, the perfect choice for a stay by the beach. A high level of service is offered here by a team of attentive and unassuming staff. Food is delicious here; every meal is a sumptuous affair with a fine dining restaurant, a pool and lounge bar and of course the fabulous sunset bar perfect for starting the evening with a handmade cocktail. A stunning infinity pool and wonderful gardens offer peaceful locations for quiet relaxation. Being the first boutique property to open in Sri Lanka Saman Villas was the first boutique hotel of its kind in Sri Lanka.
Best time to be there
During our winter months, when the humidity is lower and the temperature more comfortable for sightseeing and exploration. However, the monsoon season of May to September should not be discounted for travel as the whole of Sri Lanka is bursting into lush greenery due to the rainfall showing you a side of this island not everyone sees.
