The Stone House
Why we like it
- A tranquil retreat from which to explore the city of Kandy
- Large and beautiful landscaped gardens, complete with swimming pool
- Small and intimate with only three luxury rooms and two suites
- With no set times, you’ll soon feel at home
- The Stone House can be booked for exclusive use, or individual rooms
For that extra elegant stay we love the suites – but with only two, booking early is essential.
From just one previous experience of A&K and Brandon Clements we have a sense that everything will be taken care of.......as will we be when we set off, throughout our trip, and all the way to the return home. The attention to customer care is comprehensive without being suffocating.
- AC, Birmingham
Located on lush verdant land the Stone House will transport you back in time to when life was slower paced. Built around the 1940s, this colonial mansion was referred to as 'Gal Bangalawa', which aptly translates to a house built of stone. The Stone House has a quiet and a completely private location which makes it hard to believe that it is just five minute drive away from the Kandy city centre.
The large and private garden is perfect for relaxing in the cool Kandy climate while feasting upon sights of the Hungasgiriya mountain range. The exclusive, warm and efficient service offered at the Stone House ensures that each moment is unforgettable. With a breathtaking location, luxurious and inviting rooms and cuisine that is unique and delicious, time spent at the Stone House is guaranteed to soothe your soul and uplift your spirits.
Best time to be there
During our winter months, when the humidity is lower and the temperature more comfortable for sightseeing and exploration. However, the monsoon season of May to September should not be discounted for travel as the whole of Sri Lanka is bursting into lush greenery due to the rainfall showing you a side of this island not everyone sees.
