Towering green mountains covered in lush tropical forest form a backdrop for the incredible sandy beaches of St. Lucia holidays. With an interesting mixture of French and English heritage, St. Lucia claims to have taken the best of both cultures - the Creole cuisine and a good game of cricket! The majority of locals speak a French-based patois, live in villages with French names and go to Catholic churches.
A St Lucia holiday with Abercrombie & Kent is the way to savour the island's dramatic physical beauty in style.
You don't have to wait until July's annual carnival to hear the sound of the steel drums as every week there are events to awaken your soul to the rhythms of Caribbean calypso. The Friday Night Street Party at Gros Islet has become the hot spot for St Lucia holiday makers and locals, whilst the Dennery Fish Saturday is the venue for tasting the delicious seafood offerings.
During your holiday or honeymoon in St Lucia, you will not want to miss a trip to the world's only 'drive-in' volcano, La Soufrière. A day trip to Soufrière, the oldest town on the island, can be combined with a visit to the deep green twin peaks of The Pitons. The National Rainforest Reserve, comprising 19,000 acres, is a delight for bird watchers, hikers and nature lovers alike. For those who love to spend their holidays as close to the water as possible, there are wonderful diving, snorkelling, deep-sea fishing and sailing opportunities.

I can easily say that nothing - nothing - in the natural world compares to an hour spent with wild mountain gorillas. An encounter with these magnificent beasts is absolutely without parallel.
