Grumeti Reserve: Tanzania’s living monument to successful conservation

The Grumeti Reserve is a nature lover’s dream and a living monument to successful conservation. Here in northern Tanzania, and forming part of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, you will see vast plains of untouched land that is covered by millions of animals roaming freely.

Exotic birds fly overhead as the thunderous sound of the annual wildebeest migration approaches. If you are a bird lover there are 400 species you can catch sight of on your trip and highlights include the grey crested helmet-shrike, Fischer's lovebird, the Rufus-tailed weaver, the Karamoja apalis and the grey-breasted spurfowl.

The Great Migration sees more than two million animals pass through the area each year. There is a well-established game population, a result of the reserve’s creation in 2003, which means you’ll see some of Tanzania’s most majestic creatures.

And your expert guides know exactly where to find them. Serengeti, which comes from the Maasai word siringit, means the place where the land stretches forever, but we have been offering safaris, holidays and tours here for over 50 years, and know just where you need to be to see the most thrilling sights.
