    The Marangu Route

    Tanzania, 7 Nights

Reputed to be the easiest of the routes, Marangu is the most comfortable in terms of facilities and is considered to be one of the most scenic trails taking in the different range of eco-systems on the mountain. The following itinerary is based on a direct climb, however we do recommend additional acclimatization days.

    Day 1 - London/Kilimanjaro

Board your KLM flight and travel via Amsterdam to Kilimanjaro. On arrival you will be transferred to Ameg Lodge for an overnight stay.

    Day 2 - Kilimanjaro
After breakfast, you will be driven to the Marangu Gate. Following park registration formalities, your adventure begins.Today you will have a steady climb ascending to your first night on the mountain staying at Mandara Hut.

    Day 3 - Kilimanjaro

Continue your climb to Horombo Hut. The Marangu Route takes in the natural beauty of this area and enroute you will cross the various eco-systems.

    Day 4 - Kilimanjaro

Climb to Kibo Hut, your last stop before the final ascent.

    Day 5 - Kilimanjaro Summit

You will be awoken at midnight for the final ascent to the summit. The final climb is through scree and seasonally (generally June and July) through snow. By 0630 you should have reached Gilman's Point at 18,630 feet on the rim of the Kilimanjaro crater. You will then continue to the summit, Uhuru Peak at 19,340 feet. Exhilarated after reaching the summit you will descend to Horombo Hut where you will stay overnight.

    Day 6 - Kilimanjaro/London
After breakfast, continue your descent to the base of the mountain. Transfer to Ameg Lodge where a day room has been arranged for you, if you wish to connect for your KLM flight back to London-Heathrow via Amsterdam. Alternatively overnight in Arusha.
