The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is dominated by the well know Ngorongoro Crater.  The craters is a true Garden of Eden, with highland forest covering the sheer sides of the caldera and is popularly known as the eighth wonder of the world.  Measuring 16 kilometres in diameter and enclosed in walls over 600 metres high, it acts as a spectacular barrier encircling the wildlife that roams the largest intact crater in the world.

The crater floor is home to some 25, 000 animals including the "big five" of buffalo, elephant, rhino, lion and leopard but also not forgetting your more common species of zebra, wildebeest and buffalo.

The area around the crater is not to be missed as including the lesser know Empakai crater which a lot smaller than the impressive Ngorongoro Crater.  This region is fantastic for walking with spectacular views either down on to the Crater floor or over the endless plains of the Serengeti.

Guest Testimonial

Our travel consultant Robin was excellent; he was able to answer all our questions and gave us valuable guidance on what to take on our trip. Our travel documents arrived well in advance of our trip and Robin kept in touch right until the time of our departure. We couldn't have asked for anything more.
