Named after the English explorer and author Frederick Courtney Selous, the Selous Game Reserve is the largest protected area uninhabited by man in the whole of Africa. The vegetation of the park varies from plains, rolling grasslands to rocky outcrops which are intersected by the Rufiji River.
The Rufiji River is made up of a network of tributaries and lakes forming the life blood of this magnificent park. Along the banks of the river you will find an abundance of game including large herds of elephants especially in the dry season which runs from June to November. With the park being such a vast area it is the perfect home to around one third of the Wild Dogs in Africa.
The park is well known for its walking safaris, boating safaris and of course safaris vehicle.
