NEED TO KNOW
- An exclusive lodge located in the remote far northern sector of the Serengeti
- Good chance of witnessing The Great Migration Mara river crossings from July to October
- Activities focus around game drives, guided walks, bush picnics and sundowners
- Lamai Serengeti has been design to sit amongst the rocks of Kogakuria Kopje unseen from afar
- Spacious safari tents with own private and roomy verandas
THE LODGE
Lamai Serengeti Camp and Lamai Private Camp are set within the Kogakuria Kopjes with views out over the Mara River Valley and Lamai Wedge. The 12 open fronted luxury tents are split between the main camp which has 8 tents and the smaller private camp that has 4 tents. Each tent has been built to take advantage of the sun, the wind and rain with the most fantastic panoramic views. All tents have en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, flush toilets, inside bath and outdoor shower.
The activities on offer at Lamai include game drives in 4x4 vehicles to explore both south of the Mara River and (river state permitting) to the north, and walking safaris also which the topography lends itself well to as there are small valleys, river lines and rocky kopjes which all make for frequent changes of scenery as well as a great cover for approaching wild animals unseen. There is also a swimming pool to relax by in the middle of the day.
As well as the chance to view the spectacular migration, the resident game is excellent; plains game in the form of zebra, topi, gazelles, impala, buffalo and giraffe, lion are rarely far away and leopard ever present but always elusive. Lamai Serengeti is closed from the 25 March to the 31st May each year for maintenance.
Relax on your veranda either watching the sun as it rises and the nocturnal animals take their leave or watch the sun set after a busy day exploring the area.
