    Spirit of Selous & Ruaha

    Tanzania, 8 Nights

    Day 1 - London/Dar es Salaam
    Board your evening British Airways flight from London-Heathrow bound for Dar es Salaam in southern Tanzania, arriving early the following morning.

    Day 2 - Dar es Salaam/Selous
    Arrive in Dar es Salaam and connect with your scheduled flight routing south to the Selous. The largest game reserve in Tanzania it covers almost five percent of the countries total area. Due to its game reserve status i.e. not a national park, a wider variety of game activities are permitted. Upon arrival in the Selous, the transfer to camp will provide a great opportunity to spot game. The Retreat Selous, a relatively new property is situated in a remote corner of the game reserve on the shores of the Ruaha River.

    Day 3 - Selous

    Game is prevalent in the Selous, with large populations of elephant, lion, hunting dog, leopard, buffalo and hippo. Bird life is also prolific with 400 species recorded that includes the globally threatened wattled crane and corncrake. Endangered black rhino, close to extinction can be seen in this area.Enjoy today's game  drive activities that may include games, walking safaris and boat safaris on the Ruaha.

    Day 4 - Selous/Ruaha
    A flight takes you to the remote Ruaha National Park - the second largest in Tanzania. Your base here is Mwagusi Safari Lodge, ten large tents are set underneath thatched bandas, each with wonderfully private verandas. Bird-watching walks and drives in search of predators are favourites here. It is a beautiful camp in an isolated setting where you can feel as if you have the bush to yourself.

    Days 5 to 6 - Ruaha
    Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives where you may view lion, elephant, kudu and possibly wild dog. In this region the flora and fauna of eastern and southern Africa overlap, adding to the strange beauty of this wonderful park.

    Day 7 - Ruaha/Dar es Salaam

    Fly from Ruaha to Dar es Salaam where you will overnight at the Oyster Bay Hotel. A beautiful large home, with eight luxurious air-conditioned ocean-facing suites feature extravagant bathrooms and is furnished throughout in contemporary African style.

    Day 8 - Dar es Salaam/London-Heathrow
    Following an early start, board your British Airways flight flight to London-Heathrow arriving in the evening.

    Zanzibar Extension

    Zanzibar is the perfect extension to a Tanzanian adventure, discover the Spice Island of Zanzibar with this suggested add on. On arrival you will transfer to The Palms. Six luxury villas are beautifully decorated in traditional Zanzibari décor, and each with their own Jacuzzi. Allow at least two full days to relax on the beach, take a spa treatment or perhaps an excursion into Stone Town with its labyrinth of narrow streets. On your final day depart Zanzibar by air and fly to Dar es Salaam where you will stay the night at the The Oyster Bay. Depart Dar es Salaam the following day on your daytime British Airways flight, to London-Heathrow.
