The U Chaing Mai hotel, a boutique property with swimming pool, gym and spa, opened its doors to welcome guests in June 2008 together with the launch of the brand. Well located on Ratchadamnoen Road, it is just a few minutes' walk to the city's shopping centre and famous night market in the heart of this largest and most culturally important city in the north of Thailand.
The hotel makes an excellent base for trekking the surrounding forests, meeting local hill tribes, visitng the nearby Elephant Nature Park or taking a Thai cookery course in this vibrant Thai city. The hotel provides guests with bicycles to use during their stay, a refreshing means of exploring the area and experiencing the local culture.
Alternatively, relax and refresh in the superb architectural setting of the hotel. The Residents' Lounge and three spa treatment rooms are located within the rooms of the former residence of Chiang Mai's Governor. The residence has been refreshed and features art and furnishings that give it a modern Thai accent while still retaining its original Chiang Mai heritage. The Reading Room is also housed in this former residence and contains an extensive collection of Chiang Mai's history and literature.
The 'Eat&Drink' restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a unique bistro setting that uses no menus and has an open air bar on the second floor. All 41 luxurious rooms has a private balcony with day bed to relax and soak up the sun.

Best time to be there
November to March. April is often the hottest month of the year, and also the month of the celebratory 'Songkran' festivals. May to October is the rainy season, with short bursts of rainstorms refreshing the green paddy fields once more.

Guest Testimonial
We appreciated knowing the travel specialist (Katie Sims) from the previous A&K holiday. The hotels in Grenada and Cordoba were excellent.
The Renfe trains from Grenada to Malaga were very impressive. On time, comfortable and fast. ![]()
