THE HOTEL
This extraordinary hotel has been created from a century-old Neo-Classical Turkish prison, steps from the fabled Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. Impressive on the outside, this hotel is an architectural delight on the inside, where huge archways soar above intricately inlaid marble floors to create a real sense of scale amongst the authenticity and attention to detail.
The Hotel's historic building affords space enough for just 65 unique rooms and suites nestled around an enclosed courtyard. All have high ceilings and are furnished with a writing desk, chairs, a private refrigerated bar and an armoire with a television, DVD and Bose CD player. The marble bathroom includes a deep soaking tub and a separate shower.
The landscaped courtyard is another highlight, offering a calm, tranquil space for reading and relaxation.
The coastal areas of Turkey bordering the Med have hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters. Conditions are harsher in the more arid interior, with average temperatures in Istanbul ranging from just above freezing in January to around 30˚C in August.
