Entebbe is a sleepy lakeside town and a starting point for any Uganda safari holiday not least as a staging post for visits to points of interest in and around Lake Victoria, most particularly Ngamba Island, and Jinja, the source of the White Nile.
Established as a chimpanzee sanctuary in 1998 and part of the Jane Goodall Institute, Ngamba Island is where chimpanzees saved from a life in captivity have been bought to for care and rehabilitation. A raised platform enables close viewing and makes feeding time an exciting activity to watch. An overnight stay, at a simple mobile camp, can be arranged.
Jinja caused much interest in the latter half of the nineteenth century as many of the great explorers of the age - Burton, Stanley, Speke - traversed the region to understand the connection between the different rivers and lakes in Africa's central highlands. Nowadays its interest lies with those with a thirst and thrill for white-water rafting and bungee jumping.

Guest Testimonial
Quite simply excellent. If I could say one thing it is that Egypt is the place to go right now, as there were virtually no tourists at some of the sights and that,I should think, is quite rare!![]()
