Entebbe is a sleepy lakeside town and a starting point for any Uganda safari holiday not least as a staging post for visits to points of interest in and around Lake Victoria, most particularly Ngamba Island, and Jinja, the source of the White Nile.

Established as a chimpanzee sanctuary in 1998 and part of the Jane Goodall Institute, Ngamba Island is where chimpanzees saved from a life in captivity have been bought to for care and rehabilitation. A raised platform enables close viewing and makes feeding time an exciting activity to watch. An overnight stay, at a simple mobile camp, can be arranged.

Jinja caused much interest in the latter half of the nineteenth century as many of the great explorers of the age - Burton, Stanley, Speke - traversed the region to understand the connection between the different rivers and lakes in Africa's central highlands. Nowadays its interest lies with those with a thirst and thrill for white-water rafting and bungee jumping.

Kampala is the largest city and the capital of Uganda.  Kampala is a city of political, commercial and intellectual interest and has been historically unsettled. Since the 1980s much has changed, the battered worn torn buildings are being replaced with modern buildings and this city has a confidence as it enters into the modern day, witnessing these African cities develop is fascinating and Kampala offers a rare treat to today's travelers allowing a true insight into Ugandan modern life

Guest Testimonial

The A&K staff on the ground were tremendous. Our driver, Bhupinder Singh, was exceptional. He was a very competent driver, which in India is no mean feat! We always felt safe when being driven by him. He was unfailingly courteous and his conversation as always interesting and very informative. He rates a AAA from us!
