If you're looking to avoid the crowds, do something different and get outdoors, this is a wonderful and varied itinerary which we will tailor to suit couples, friends or families.

Day 1 - UK/San Francisco
Fly to San Francisco beginning your California adventure in this enchanting city. Explore the streets, the bay, Alcatraz and Fisherman's Wharf, cycle the winding roads around Sausalito or hike in Muir Woods.

Day 3 - Point Reyes
Begin your journey through the natural wonders of California by car. Head north across the Golden Gate Bridge taking in the dramatic views of the city skyline and the ocean. Meet your private guide at the village of Point Reyes Station. Point Reyes is a peninsula jutting out into the Pacific, attracting Grey Whales, Tule Elk, small mammals and a variety of songbirds, shorebirds and birds of prey. Your guide will lead you on your journey, driving and walking around the peninsula, interpreting this exceptional natural world.

Day 4 - Avenue of the Giants
Continue north to Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Travel through The Avenue of the Giants: 31 miles of the largest redwood trees on earth.

Days 5 to 6 - Fern Canyon
Fern Canyon is reached by an 8-mile dirt road to a protected portion of the coast, from which you hike into a deep canyon with a beautiful stream and redwoods lining its banks. Enjoy a picnic lunch among the redwoods before a guided afternoon hike in one of the most dramatic redwood groves in California.

Day 7 to 9 - Yosemite
Drive to Yosemite, America's premier national park, to begin a rafting adventure. This is a classic Sierra Nevada Mountain rafting trip, with 15 Class II and III rapids, perfect for the first-timer. The scenery includes natural open meadows and narrow gorges. During your stay at Yosemite, your private guide will take you on a hiking tour covering highlights of Yosemite National Park, including the major waterfalls and rock formations.

Days 10 to 11 - Sequoia and King's Canyon
Travel to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks which hold 'the largest living things on earth' - sequoias, trees that are over 2,000 years old. Take a tour of the highlights of the Park, including the dramatic Kings Canyon Scenic Byway and the famed General Grant Grove, home to the largest trees in the Park. The next day a private guide will join you for a full day of exploration in some of the less-visited Sequoia groves, plus a private visit to the famed Crystal Cave, formed of marble with a glorious array of stalactites and stalagmites.

Day 12 - Los Angeles/UK
Drive to Los Angeles for your flight home or to spend some extra time around Los Angeles.
