Colorado and the American Rockies
There aren’t enough words to describe this diverse state; home to the world’s largest flat-top mountain the Grand Mesa, masses of adrenalin filled outdoor pursuits and first class ski resorts. Oh, and then of course there are the natural hot springs, hundreds of lakes and rivers, 54 mountain peaks, 15 national parks and too-many-to-mention monuments. Toss your hiking boots aside to enjoy a thriving arts scene, a rich cultural heritage, flavourful cuisine and, of course the beer.
If you visit Colorado you must visit Denver, the State Capital which is home to one of the fastest growing metropolitan populations in the country. With the famed Denver Beer Trail, Red Rocks Parks and Amphitheatre, acclaimed art museums, eight professional sports teams and plenty of luxury dining options you’ll have too much to choose from in this ‘Mile High City’.
The Rocky Mountain National Park is reason enough on its own to visit Colorado. This 415sqm natural outdoor playground is home to majestic peaks, lush forests and meadows, tundra and opaline ponds, not to mention some of the state’s best wildlife viewing. To the Northwest of the State adrenalin junkies can indulge in world-class ski resorts, deep sandstone canyons, stunning cliffs, crystal clear alpine lakes and some white-water rapids. This is also home to some of the state’s hot springs as well as filling natural and manmade pools in Steamboat Springs, Hot Sulphur Springs and Glenwood Springs. You’ll find more natural wonders around the town of Grand Junction: The Grand Mesa, the world’s highest flattop mountain, is to the east; Colorado National Monument, a gallery of desert-rock formations, located to the west, and Book Cliffs descend literally into the town from the north. The climate, with its warm days and cool nights, contributes to the area’s sensational produce - juicy peaches, delicious melons and great harvests of wine grapes.
Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho - the American West at its biggest and best! Experience western style horseback riding, learn how to herd cattle, taking in a rodeo or visit one of the USA’s forgotten ghost towns. If you fancy following in the steps of John Wayne, grab your stetson, steed and cowboy boots and check out our ranching holiday. We’ve teamed up with some of the best ranches across the United States in order to offer clients the very best in luxury western adventure. Many ranches are in states you may know little about, but whilst they are less explored, they’re no less beautiful. Montana is a land of big skies and big mountains. Larger than Japan yet with a population of less than a million people, there’s a feeling of space and serenity often hard to achieve in today’s crazy world. A ranching holiday is a great adventure for the kids - the days are packed with activities, many of them new to the whole family. So as Dad is perfecting his swagger through the saloon doors, the kids might be learning different ways to saddle a horse, or checking out the local wildlife with a guide. Of course, we only offer the very best in luxury ranches so you can be assured of the finest in local food, cabins and suites - there's often even a spa to relax in at the end of the day. It’s a little known fact that even John Wayne enjoyed a hot stones massage from time to time!
