Once described by Sir Winston Churchill as the 'Pearl of Africa', Uganda is one of Africa's best kept secrets, as well as its most diverse. From the vast Lake Victoria to the awe-inspiring National parks, Uganda boasts stunning landscapes, and not only that, it is home to the greatest concentration of primates in the world and half the world's mountain gorillas.
The prime viewing areas are found in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, so named because of its dense forest. Around 700 gorillas are said to inhabit the area and our expert guides know the best places to look. Once in the forest we recommend staying at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp, so close to the action that you might even find gorillas wandering into camp.
Neighbouring Rwanda can also lay claim to having fantastic gorilla trekking, and Volcanoes National Park is home to half of the remaining 780 mountain gorillas in the area.
