Days 1 - 4 Victoria Falls
Four days is ample time to explore the wide range of activities on offer at Victoria Falls; the town itself is a little gem, sprawled across the southern banks of the Zambezi. In recent years it has developed a name for itself as the place to visit for action-packed fun. One of the best ways to experience the sheer size of the falls is from the air by taking a thrilling helicopter or microlight flight. When David Livingstone first wrote the much-quoted 'scenes so lovely they must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight' in 1855, little did he know that some 150 years later it would be possible to do just that. Appropriately, the scenic flight over the falls is known as the 'flight of angels', in homage to the Livingstone's famous words. As well as soaring over the falls (or jumping across them from the Knife Edge Bridge) you can take to the water underneath, and raft the white water at the base when water levels permit. A more sedate approach is by canoe, as you glide down the Zambezi to spot elephants and hippos on the banks. Walking trails take you up the water face and during the months of May and June, when water levels are at their highest, you are literally hosed down by the spray. Visit Victoria Falls during full moon and you may witness a lunar rainbow created by the spray from the falls.
