About Matt

I was introduced to Africa at school when I got the chance to build classrooms in rural Kenya on a charity trip. This trip ignited not only my passion for travel but also my love for Africa, which then opened the door to becoming cabin crew for a well-known British airline. During this time, I travelled to over 50 countries, but Africa was never far from my thoughts. Since then, I have visited South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Kenya and Victoria Falls but always look forward to exploring elsewhere.

Talking points

What's your favourite destination?

Namibia – it is the ultimate country for a picturesque self-drive

Which destination is top of your bucket list, and why?

Either Rwanda for the gorilla trekking or Zimbabwe for the unspoiled national parks

Which five items do you always pack when travelling?

Camera, US$ for Africa, multi-country power adaptor, sunscreen/mosquito spray, and a sense of adventure

What's your top travel tip?

Eat and drink like a local wherever you are in the world. Doing this can provide a better introduction to the country than anything else and is often the best value too
